The Company

Gray Media Services Pty Ltd (GMS) is one of Brisbane's brightest and fastest growing PR and marketing companies which prides itself on its exceptional service as a one stop shop for all a company's internal and external communications needs. Its client base is both wide and varied with major national and international companies in fields such as healthcare and mining through to government, individual private companies and even entertainers. The IT challenge

When Conosco became involved with Gray Media Services it was struggling with an IT system which did not meet its needs and had no ability to scale with the business as it rapidly grew. The company director, Yasmine Gray, was aware that this was affecting her company's service and performance and so was eager to find an IT company that could provide the same level of service and professionalism that her own company's clients expected from GMS.

Being a company that thrives on communication, the fact that email systems were ineffective meant that productivity was being compromised. Additionally, there was no effective remote access solution in place which meant that it was difficult for the business to maintain its trademark responsiveness and personal service.

The Conosco solution

Conosco designed and built a new platform Microsoft Small Business Server 2008, including Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, allowing for a significant uplift in functionality in email communications, shared calendaring and scheduling.

Remote functionality for email was enabled via Microsoft Outlook Web Access and ActiveSync for Windows Mobile devices and BlackBerry's. The addition of a Terminal Server option based on Microsoft Remote Desktop Services also allowed secure, on-demand access to all of the company's data around the clock.

In keeping with the company's ‘green' focus, virtualisation was employed to reduce the amount of hardware needing to be deployed, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of the business. The new infrastructure has seen the business increase productivity and has supported the business as it has more than doubled in size.
